Jewelry Care

How should I clean my gold jewelry?

For gold jewelry, we recommend washing away sweat and chemical residues by soaking it in warm water with a mild detergent or dish soap.

After cleaning, pat the jewelry dry with a soft cloth and allow it to air dry completely.

If the shine becomes dull over time, you may occasionally use the gold polishing cloth included in your package to restore its natural luster.

Please note: If your jewelry has organic gemstones such as pearls or coral, please avoid using the polishing cloth. Using it on these materials can cause the shine to fade.

Can I wear my gold jewelry while showering or swimming?

It’s best to take your jewelry off before the shower, the pool or a hot tub.

14K and 18K gold are alloys: gold mixed with other metals such as silver and copper. The chlorine in pools and hot tubs reacts with those metals and can weaken the gold. Over time, this can loosen or crack the prongs that hold a diamond and cause discoloration.

Perfume, makeup and hairspray can also dull gold’s shine, so put your jewelry on last.

How should I store my gold jewelry?

Store your gold jewelry separately in a soft pouch or a lined jewelry box to avoid scratches. Avoid direct sunlight and humid places to help preserve its shine.

How should I open and close my huggie hoops?

Our hoops close with a post that clicks into a small catch. Gold is a soft metal, so the clasp only ever needs a light touch.

To open

Rest a fingernail on the joint where the two ends meet and press straight down, lightly. The post releases from the catch. Avoid pulling the ends apart from the sides.

To close

Swing the hoop shut and stop at the click. The click means it is secure, and pressing past it can bend the post.

If it won’t click

The post may have moved slightly inward. With the hoop open, lift the post outward very slowly, a little at a time, and test the click after each small move.

If the click feels loose, the post has usually been pressed too far. Gold is soft and can bend under too much force, so handle the clasp gently. The same gentle lift brings the click back.

How should I care for my pearl / Akoya pearl jewelry?

Pearls are organic gemstones and require delicate care to maintain their luster.

The "Last On, First Off" Rule
Always put your pearl jewelry on as the final touch after applying makeup, perfume, and hairspray. Chemicals found in these products can damage the pearl's nacre (surface) over time.

Avoid Water and Heat
Please avoid wearing pearl jewelry while showering, swimming, or washing your hands. Since many pearls are secured to their setting using specialized jeweler's epoxy, exposure to hot water or moisture can weaken this bond, causing the pearl to detach. Additionally, chlorinated water and soaps can dull the pearl's shine.

Cleaning and Storage
After wearing, gently wipe your pearls with a soft, dry cloth to remove any body oils or perspiration. Never use ultrasonic cleaners, steam cleaners, or jewelry dips. Store your pearls in a soft pouch, separate from other jewelry (like diamonds or gold), as they can easily be scratched by harder materials.

Will gold jewelry tarnish over time?

No. Every Naomi Seoul piece is solid 14K or 18K gold, which doesn't tarnish in everyday wear. The small share of other metals in the alloy isn't enough to dull it under normal conditions. To keep the shine, keep pieces away from harsh chemicals and perfume, don't leave them wet for long, and wipe them with a soft cloth now and then.

How often should I get my gold jewelry professionally cleaned?

We recommend getting your gold jewelry professionally cleaned and inspected at least once a year. This helps maintain its luster and ensures that any small issues, like loose settings, can be fixed promptly.
